Sometimes you may find, it is harder to manage the skin around your feet and at the sole because it is naturally thicker and drier than skin on the rest of your body. It is difficult enough to scrub off the calluses, the dry or dead cells in the feet but it is even harder to keep them soft, moisturized and supple to touch. So here we give you very simple home remedies to tackle problems like cracked heels, calluses, infections and hardened soles. These applications will give you feet soft to touch and admirable that you can finally show off.

1. Banana

Banana is not just a fruit that relieves stress and is full of good nutrition, but it is also a great moisturizing agent that can heal dry and damaged skin. This property is useful especially because skin in the foot area happens to be drier, harder and flakier.  Here’s how you can heal your cracked heels by applying mashed banana-

·        Mash it and make a pulp of two bananas

·        Apply the pulp on the feet

·        Leave it out for 10 minutes

·        Wash the feet in lukewarm water

2. Baking soda

Baking soda is alkaline in nature which enables it to balance the pH level of the skin. It is also an excellent exfoliating agent that helps remove the dead cells in the skin. Baking soda is used not just to clear the skin pores but also to remove tan and heal yeast infections on the skin. Here’s one way you can use baking soda for clean and supple feet.

·        Pour two tablespoons of baking soda in lukewarm water

·        Immerse your feet in it and let it stay for half an hour

·        You can add bath salts too!

·        Gently rub off the dry skin with a soft foot brush.

4. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a great toning agent as it balances the ph of your skin and helps rebuild the damaged acid mantle, or the protective layer of the skin. It is rich in vitamins, enzymes, mineral salts and amino acids. It is used for deep pore cleansing since application of ACV can remove dead cells and accumulated bacteria from the deepest pores of skin cells. ACV has anti fungal properties to fight feet infections like athlete’s foot and remove the stubborn calluses that are a result of too much friction due to walking or running. There are few other natural agents for softening the thick dry skin like ACV. Soak your feet in ACV mixed water solution for an hour and slough away the dead cells.

5. Oatmeal and lemon juice

You can make a scrub at home by mixing oatmeal with lemon drops and applying the paste to your feet. Let it sit for half an hour and then rinse it off.

6. Honey

Honey is antibacterial, soothing, a good humectant and therefore locks in moisture and improves skin tone. Without affecting the acid mantle, it removes the dirt and extra oil from the skin. You can soak your feet in a bucket of lukewarm water mixed with honey.
